QuickBooks Online Mobile App Updates: Better Reporting and More Financial Visibility on the Go

Smiling entrepreneur in blazer checks phone as if he's looking at the reports view in the QuickBooks online mobile app.

QuickBooks has continued to expand what businesses can accomplish from the QuickBooks mobile app, and one of the most useful recent improvements is better access to financial reporting from a phone or tablet.

The mobile app has evolved, allowing business owners and managers to accomplish a great deal more than sending an invoice, photographing a receipt, or checking a transaction. Now, thanks to the August 2026 update, mobile app users can also access financial information on the go, including their profit and loss report, balance sheet, and even custom reports they've previously set up on the full version of QuickBooks Online.

Financial Reports Are Becoming More Useful on the QuickBooks Online Mobile App

To access your financial reports on the go, open the QuickBooks Online mobile app. Navigate to the Menu icon in the bottom ribbon, and select Reports on the next screen. Below, a drop-down menu will appear with the following options: Profit & loss report, Balance sheet, and Custom reports.

While users cannot create custom reports from the mobile app, Intuit indicates that users can view, search, and filter saved custom reports on mobile--they just need to have created these custom reports in the full version of QuickBooks Online, either on a computer web browser or the QuickBooks Online Desktop App.

The enhancement doesn't stop at a static summary of your reports, either. When reviewing a Profit & Loss or Balance Sheet on the mobile app, you can:

  • Select amounts within the report and drill down to see the transactions behind those numbers.

  • Adjust reporting periods so that you're looking at the timeframe that matters to you.

View Cash Flow From the QuickBooks Mobile App

The QuickBooks Online mobile app also gives you a quick way to review your business's cash flow while you're away from your computer. On the same Menu view, select Cash flow, then Cashflow overview directly beneath that icon to see an overview of the money moving into and out of your business.

While it's not as robust as the cash flow tools available in the full version of QuickBooks Online, it can help you quickly assess whether your business has enough cash available to cover upcoming expenses, identify changes in cash activity, and spot trends that may require a closer look. It can be especially useful before making a purchase, approving a payment, or meeting with a customer or financial advisor.

The Bigger Opportunity: Put Your Financial Information to Work

As always, your reports are only as reliable as your financial data. Invoices and payments must be accurately recorded, transactions need to be categorized correctly and posted in a timely manner, and your chart of accounts aligned with how your business operates. Inconsistent income records, misclassified expenses, or uncategorized transactions can distort your financial picture, rendering the fingertip accessibility of your reports less than helpful.
