Intuit 2026 AI Impact Report: How businesses are adopting AI and how it’s impacting their business.

Intuit has just released the most comprehensive look at how small and midsize businesses are adopting AI across the US, Canada, UK, and Australia, surveying over 34,000 small and midsize business owners and combining these responses with anonymized data from 5.3 million QuickBooks Businesses.

The trend is clear: AI adoption has moved from experiment to everyday tool for small and mid-sized businesses. The 2026 AI Impact Report finds that 77% of U.S. business now use AI regularly, up from 48% in July 2025. Daily use has grown even faster, reshaping how companies operate.

At least one of their key takeaways may surprise you

  • Productivity Improvements: About 78% of businesses say AI has made them more productive, up from 46% in mid-2024. This has feed up time for higher-value work.

  • Revenue is Up: 43% report AI increased revenue; conversely, only 2% say revenue has fallen, indicating a strong net positive.

  • Hiring is up: The data indicates that firms using AI are far more likely to grow their teams, rather than cut them; an increase in hiring was four times more common than overhead reductions.

Adopting AI of any kind, from free tools and built-in features to dedicated paid subscriptions, can have a dramatic (and positive) effect for small and medium-sized businesses. It’s clear that AI is the next great frontier for businesses.
